What is audiology? Audiology is one of the fast-rising medical professions these days. It’s actually among the top 31 careers for 2008 according to the U.S. News and World Report.

So, what really are audiologists?

In essence, these are doctors who attend to the medical needs of people with hearing problems. They prescribe hearing aids, when necessary, and they conduct research on the subject of hearing loss. They also develop hearing-related programs that seek to provide relief and in some cases, treatment.

The advantage is that hearing devices continue to improve over time, along with technological advancements. This makes the career very promising. Also, only a few people consider it (at least for now), so there is less competition.
