Medical Specialization Population

Pediatrics, OB Gyne, Dermatologist, are just three in many of the medical specialties in the world. Somebody said to me that the population of medical specialization is more than general medicine.
The proper students who undertake medical specialization are more than the proper students that undertake general medicine. Maybe because have a specific expertise could focus only to one specialization with the intention that an individual could practice well in one particular medical specialty. However, this issue that I got from a medical student looks not confirmed because he did not exactly said that if is a worldwide issue or not.
